The Department of Languages and Literatures is an integral educational and academic unit within Khazar University. Its main responsibilities include teaching Azerbaijani language, Azerbaijani and World literature in relevant majors and providing comprehensive education to undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students in these subjects. Additionally, the Department offers instruction in various foreign languages such as German, French, and Chinese as a second language. Apart from teaching, the Department also engages in methodical and academic research as well as pedagogical activities. It actively contributes to the development of educational resources by creating textbooks, programs, and other teaching materials.
The Department places great importance on actively participating in the university social life, organizing literature discussions, poetry evenings and recitation competitions as part of its core activities.
Teaching Azerbaijani language and literature bachelor program details
The purpose of the bachelor’s degree in “Teaching Azerbaijani language and literature” is to prepare high-level, professional teachers, to perform theoretical and practical teaching about all stages and periods, sections and fields of Azerbaijani language and literature (including world literature) to students. Students mastering the program will be able to prepare evaluation methods and tools after learning the system, structure and concrete historical development stages of language, implementation of pedagogical and psychological activities, how to determine the correct teaching methodology and evaluation procedures in teaching, how to be able to choose new methods and modes of language and literature, how to apply them efficiently and qualitatively, how to measure training results and by learning the principles of developing appropriate, reliable assessment tools.

Philology (the Azerbaijani language and literature) bachelor program overview
The purpose of the department at the bachelor level of the "Philology (the Azerbaijani language and literature)" of the Faculty "Humanities, Education and Social Sciences" is to teach students the grammatical structure and units of the modern Azerbaijani language, as well as to provide knowledge about linguistics and the history of the language, to learn about the history of Azerbaijani literature (including World literature) in chronological order, to teach the life and legacy of writers and poets who lived in different periods, and to provide preliminary theoretical information.
