Azerbaijan was also represented at the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, held in the city of Qufu, birthplace of the great Chinese philosopher and thinker Confucius.
AZERTAC reports that the forum, held under the theme "Civilization, Order, and Justice," brought together government officials, scholars, cultural figures, diplomats, and journalists from more than 50 countries. Jointly organized by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the International Confucian Association, and the government of Shandong Province, the event is being held at the "Confucius World" cultural center at the foot of Mount Nishan in Qufu.
Azerbaijan was represented at the forum by Aqshin Aliyev, PhD in Philology, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language at the Faculty of Asian Studies of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Director of the Center for Chinese Studies at Khazar University. At the session titled "Dialogue of Ideas and Integration of Civilizations," he delivered a presentation titled "Translating Confucius's Pedagogical Thought into Azerbaijani within the Framework of Intercivilizational Dialogue: Challenges and Measures." Drawing on his experience gained while translating Confucius's "Analects" into Azerbaijani, Aqshin Aliyev's presentation examined the methods applied in the translation process, the challenges encountered, and their solutions from the perspective of eco-translatology theory. In addition, the value placed on education and science in the national thought of the two peoples was comparatively analyzed, and the main reasons why Confucius's pedagogical thought continues to remain relevant in the modern era were extensively examined.
