Milana Abbasova, PhD and Dean of Khazar University's School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, and Elcan Salimli, a doctoral student at the university, have published a new article titled "Exploring ChatGPT's Role in Developing Productive Language Skills: A Systematic Review" in the "Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences" (indexed in "Web of Science"'s "Emerging Sources Citation Index" - ESCI).
The study synthesizes previous research to assess how artificial intelligence affects language learners' speaking and writing skills. While the results show that ChatGPT is a valuable tool for reducing writing stress, improving grammatical accuracy, and boosting speaking confidence, the authors also highlight risks such as artificial intelligence "hallucinations" and excessive student dependence.
Ultimately, the study proposes integrating critical AI literacy into modern educational programs.
