Dr. Razia Isaeva, Rector of Khazar University, attended the opening ceremony of the "Threads of Remembrance" exhibition at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum on June 17, 2026.
Held at the invitation of H.E. Kirsti Narinen, Finland's Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the South Caucasus, the event marks Finland's first textile exhibition in Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Amina Malikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, Ambassador Kirsti Narinen, Jahangir Salimkhanov, Advisor to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and other guests.
The exhibition presents the role of Finland's and Azerbaijan's rich textile traditions in shaping cultural memory and intergenerational ties. In the exposition, textile is displayed not merely as an example of craftsmanship, but as a living medium through which knowledge, memory, labor, and everyday practices are transmitted.
The exhibition, which features works by Finnish artists Elina Juopperi and Henna Aho, also showcases selected textile pieces from the family collection of Kirsti Narinen, Finland's Ambassador to the South Caucasus.
Organized jointly by the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and the Embassy of Finland to the South Caucasus, the exhibition will be open to visitors until August 16, 2026.
