On June 11, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Khazar University, published an article titled “The question of space and history of national identity: the case of Azerbaijan” on Fuyuzat.az.

The article emphasizes the crucial role of space (homeland, land) and history in the formation of national identity. The author notes that since the national identity and understanding of history of Azerbaijan were formed for a long time under the influence of Tsarist Russia and Soviet power, the national historical experience was not fully reflected. Assoc. Prof. O. Valiyev believes that the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan after the Karabakh Victory created new opportunities for rethinking the concepts of national identity, history and space and strengthening the consciousness of national history.
