An international online scientific-practical conference on the topic of "Preservation of Cultural Heritage in Turkic-Speaking States and Its Transmission to Future Generations" was held on June 8, 2026, under the framework of the "Azerbaijan Culture 2040" Cultural Concept of the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized by the Ganja State Historical and Cultural Reserve, which operates under the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The conference was held with the attendance of staff members from the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, Khazar University, the Samarkand State Museum Reserve from the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Saraishyk State Historical Museum Reserve and the Hazrat Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum Reserve from the Republic of Kazakhstan. The conference was moderated by Vafa Aliyeva, a research fellow at the Ganja State Historical and Cultural Reserve. Staff members of historical and cultural reserves under the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan also took part in the conference.
At the conference, Dr. Yagub Mammadov, Leading Research Fellow at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and faculty member of the History and Archaeology Department at Khazar University, delivered a paper on the topic "Restored Archaeological Research in Karabakh: Rewriting History in Triumph." Dr. Yagub Mammadov, who participates in international research conducted at the Azykh and Taghlar caves liberated from occupation, provided conference participants with comprehensive information based on the preliminary findings obtained. It should be noted that large-scale archaeological research in the territories liberated from occupation has been underway by the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS since 2020, and investigations in this direction are currently ongoing.
