On June 3, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Khazar University, published an article titled “Nationalism and history: an inevitable union” on Fuyuzat.az.
In the article, the author analyzes nationalism as one of the most influential political ideologies of the modern era and explores the epistemological foundations of its relationship with history. Assoc. Prof. Valiyev refers to the theory of knowledge of the philosopher Nabi Mehdiyev and explains the differences between the concepts of belief, conviction, and knowledge. The author concludes that nationalism is mainly based on the “conviction” formed by history; history provides it with reasoned belief, not definitive knowledge.
