The 29th Eurasian Economic Summit of the Marmara Group Foundation was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on May 11–13, 2026. The summit, which brought together representatives from more than 40 countries, was attended by presidents of 12 countries, over 700 delegates, including heads of state, government and municipal leaders, ministers, as well as business and academic figures. As in previous years, Alovsat Amirbayli, Director of Public Relations and Media at Khazar University, was also invited to the summit.
The opening remarks were delivered by Akkan Suver, Chairman of the Marmara Group Foundation, who welcomed the guests. Messages addressed to the summit participants from the President of Türkiye Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Nobel Prize laureate Acad. Aziz Sancar were read aloud.
On the first day, addresses were delivered by Mustafa Paşahan, Chairman of İHKİB; Mustafa Gültepe, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly; Ambassador Merve Safa Kavakçı, First Deputy Secretary General of the BSEC; Asaf Hajiyev, Secretary General of PABSEC; Abdullah Eren, Chairman of TİKA; Nuri Aslan, Acting Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; Borjano Kristo, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on behalf of foreign guests; and Cevdet Yılmaz, on behalf of the Turkish state.
In the second part of the first day's session, more than 20 representatives of state bodies, municipalities, and non-governmental organizations from 11 countries presented reports on various topics. Alovsat Amirbayli, Director of Public Relations and Media at Khazar University, was elected to the secretariat of the session.
At the first session of the second day of the summit, addresses were delivered by Danilo Türk, President of Slovenia (2007–2012); Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board; Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomeos, Greek Patriarch of Istanbul; Ali Bardakoğlu, President of the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Türkiye; Orhan Çanlı, Vicar and Spiritual Head of the Syriac Catholic Patriarchate of Türkiye; Cole Durham, President of the US G20 Interreligious Association; Emir Kır, Member of the Belgian Parliament and Mayor of Saint-Josse; David Sevi, Chief Rabbi of Türkiye; Samir Avdic, Mayor of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Massimiliano Palinuro, Spiritual Head of the Vatican Latin Catholic Church; Ayşe Ünlüce, Mayor of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality; and others, who voiced their concerns regarding the current situation in the world.
At the concluding session of the summit, former presidents Abdullah Gül (Türkiye, 2007–2014), Bamir Topi (Albania, 2007–2012), Boris Tadić (Serbia, 2004–2012), Danilo Türk (Slovenia, 2007–2012), Emil Constantinescu (Romania, 1996–2000), George Ivanov (Macedonia, 2009–2019), Ivo Josipović (Croatia, 2010–2015), Stjepan Mesić (Croatia, 2000–2010), Václav Klaus (Czech Republic, 2003–2013), Petru Lucinschi (Moldova, 1997–2001), Filip Vujanović (Montenegro, 2003–2018), and Milo Đukanović (Montenegro, 2018–2023) took the floor and conveyed their countries' positions on the situation that has recently developed in the Middle East and beyond.
The summit concluded with a group photograph. A reception was hosted by the Marmara Group Foundation in honor of foreign heads of state and guests.
