Department Head's Article on Füyuzat.az

On May 8, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Khazar University, published an article titled “Discussion of the concept of modern nation within the framework of faith and disbelief” on Fuyuzat.az.

The author emphasizes in the article that secularism is not the complete disappearance of religion, but the limitation of the political and legal power of the church. Assoc. Prof. Valiyev shows that as a result of industrialization, capitalism and the Enlightenment, the concept of the individual and the citizen came to the fore, thereby forming the modern nation. At the end of the article, it is noted that the modern secular system and the concept of the national state have changed again under the influence of technology and globalization.
