As part of its annual staff development and sustainability awareness activities, Khazar University organized a training titled “From Darkness to Light: Emotional Support and Mental Well-being” on December 19, 2024. The event was held through the collaboration of the University’s Psychology Department and Psychology Club and contributed to strengthening awareness of the social dimensions of sustainability, particularly mental health, emotional resilience, and social support.
The training was delivered by Malak Karimova, Coordinator of Khazar University’s Psychology Department and Director of the Khazar Psychological Service Center. The event brought together participants from the university community. In her presentation, Malak Karimova emphasized the importance of emotional support in human well-being and suicide prevention. The training highlighted the role of psychological well-being in fostering a safe and socially sustainable educational and working environment.
The session also included practical exercises related to mental well-being, enabling participants to move beyond theoretical discussion and gain applicable strategies for real-life situations. Through these activities, the training supported the development of personal and interpersonal skills that contribute to stronger social support systems within the university community.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session, during which participants shared their views and experiences. In her closing remarks, Malak Karimova underlined the importance of protecting each person’s emotional well-being and stressed the need to further develop psychological support systems for the benefit of society as a whole.
