On April 11, 2016, a celebration was held on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Professor Mahammad Nuriyev, Advanced Educationalist of the Azerbaijan Republic. The announcers of the event were Baba Bayramli, Director of the Center for Alumni Relations, and Martha Lawry, PhD student. They opened the celebration with information about Prof. Nuriyev. Then the University Multimedia Center presented a slide show with photos of the professor.

Dr. Isakhan Isakhanli, Vice President for Administration and Student Affairs, read an official congratulatory letter on behalf of the university collective and presented a bouquet to Prof. Nuriyev. Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, and President Hasan Niknafs spoke highly of Prof. Nuriyev’s twenty years of service to Khazar, noting that he is a great educational organizer and scholar, a demanding leader, and a sincere and fair colleague. They wished him further success.

Congratulatory speeches were also made by Rafig Ahmadov, Director of the Institutional Research Center as well as Advanced Educationalist of the Azerbaijan Republic; Dr. Ingilab Ahmadov, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; Associate Professor Jabir Khalilov, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Elza Semedli, Dean of the School of Education; Dr. Farda Asadov, Director of the Center for Eurasia and Middle East Studies; and Firangiz Nasirova, Senior Instructor of the Department of English Language and Literature as well as Advanced Educationalist of the Azerbaijan Republic.

The School of Education organized an exclusive survey during the celebration, the results of which were announced by Assistant Dean Zarifa Aliyeva. The School also gave a gift to Prof. Nuriyev.

At the end of the event, Prof. Nuriyev made a speech to thank the university administration and those who had organized the celebration.

The celebration included a concert program by the Department of Music and Fine Arts.
