On January 30, 2026, Associate Professor Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Khazar University, published an article titled “The Concept of Azerbaijani National Identity: A Victorious and Renewed National Identity” on Fuyuzat.az.

Assoc. Prof. Valiyev justifies the reassessment of Azerbaijani national identity after the Karabakh victory, not based on the memory of colonialism and defeat, but on the experience of sovereignty and victory. The author shows that national identity is formed on the basis of language, history, geography, religion, and the balance of  between Turkic-Azerbaijani identity, and proposes an integrative, rather than aggressive, nationalism model for Azerbaijan as the optimal national strategy.
