On December 25, 2025, an article entitled “The Trans-Caspian Pipeline: Turkmenistan’s Path to EU Energy Security and Strategic Diversification” by Elmir Badalov, a Ph.D. candidate of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Khazar University, was published in the journal “Strategos” (2025, Vol. 9, No. 2, pp. 79–106).

It should be noted that “Strategos” is an academic journal focused on security, defense, geopolitics, and international relations, published by the “Dr. Franjo Tuđman” University of Defense and Security and the Croatian Military Academy.

The article examines the prospects for the realization of the Trans-Caspian Pipeline and analyzes the key internal and external challenges that continue to hinder its implementation. It argues that although Turkmenistan’s vast natural gas reserves could play a meaningful role in the EU’s post-2022 energy diversification strategy, political constraints, governance challenges, geopolitical resistance, and cost considerations remain decisive obstacles.
