On October 24, 2025, a scientific session on the topic "Folklore Context of Baxtiyar Vahabzada's Works" was held at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Baxtiyar Vahabzada, a prominent representative of Azerbaijani literature, People's Poet, playwright, literary scholar, educator and public figure, laureate of the USSR and Republic of Azerbaijan State Awards, and academician.
The event was opened with an introductory speech by Hikmat Guliyev, Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, Doctor of Philological Sciences, and lecturer at Khazar University. Stating that "the poet's works are not merely a poetic phenomenon, but also an artistic expression of national thought, the idea of freedom, and spiritual integrity," Hikmat Guliyev drew attention to the social mission and scope of Baxtiyar Vahabzada's works.
At the session, staff members of the Institute of Folklore—Ramazan Gafarli, Gulnar Osmanova, Gulsumkhanim Hasilova, Shabnam Mammadova, Khalida Mammadova, Matanat Abbasova, Oruj Aliyev, Khuraman Karimova, Leyla Mammadova, and Jamila Novruzova—delivered presentations, providing a comprehensive perspective on the poetic characteristics of Baxtiyar Vahabzada's works, their connection with folk literature, and the role of values in his works.
Fourth-year students from Khazar University, Nazrin Shahsuvarli and Fidan Bagirli, also spoke at the event, sharing their thoughts on the poet's works and reciting excerpts from his poems.
It should be noted that Nazrin Shahsuvarli and Fidan Bagirli are completing their internship at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS under the scientific supervision of Dr. Hikmat Guliyev during the fall semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. During the internship, students have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in the context of contemporary scientific approaches and develop their research skills.
