The presentation and signing ceremony of Gardashkhan Azizkhanli's poetry books "My first is you, my present is you, and my last is you" and "Neither that sail, nor this ship" held

On May 2023, 16, Khazar University hosted a presentation and signing ceremony of poetry books entitled "My first is you, my present is you, and my last is you" and "Neither that sail, nor this ship” by Gardashkhan Azizkhanli (Haqqarar), a well-known poet, lecturer in the Department of Languages and Literature of the University, PhD in philology.

The event, moderated by assoc. prof. Dilbar Zeynalova, head of the Department of Languages and Literature, was attended by representatives of art and science, as well as faculty and students of the University.

The lecturer of the Department of Languages and Literature, PhD in philology, literary critic-essayist Ulvi Babasoy emphasized that Gardashkhan has an original creative style and spoke about the special merits of his books. The speaker talked about the structural and content features of the last poetry book " Neither that sail, nor this ship ", and noted the compositional features of the sections included in the book, as well as artistic and aesthetic aspects. Appreciating the book in terms of its conceptuality, minimalism and richness of content, the literary scholar called this book "both the lock and the key" of Gardashkhan's 45-year creative path.

Vice-chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, poet-translator Salim Babullaoghlu, in addition to G. Azizkhanli's poem, talked about the main directions of development of modern world literature and poetry as a whole, highlighting the superiority of Gardashkhan's concise as well as figurative writing style. Calling poetry a "higher speech phenomenon", the speaker referred to Gardashkhan's poem to justify his views.

At the event, where interesting speeches were made, the floor was taken by G. Azizkhanli 's comrades-in- arms, who had been an officer for many years, and those who closely followed his work.

The speeches of reserve officer Ramiz Shamiyev, translator-publicist Novruz Novruzov, Khazar University teacher Mais Talishkhanov, SOCAR Head Office senior engineer Jabbar Mammadov and Khazar University Public Relations and Media Director Alovsat Amirbeyli and the questions they addressed to the poet shed more light on the way of life, service and creativity of G. Azizkhanli.

Students majoring in language-literature, chemistry-biology specialties Sanur Yagubov, Konul Hasanli, Shafa Yusifova, Aysun Gubadova and Aygun Ismayilova recited the poems of Gardashkhan Azizkhanli “Rain”, “I covered my eyes with my hands”, “So every morning”, “Maybe”, and “Close to lover”, the poem by J.W.Goethe which he translated from the original, with special enthusiasm.

The event ended with the poet's speech and signing ceremony.
