On April 19, 2023, a meeting was held with Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University, chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, public figure, outstanding mathematician, poet, writer, translator, publicist, one of the few globally recognized polymaths of the last centuries, at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) on the occasion of his 75th anniversary. Administration and employees of ANAS and Khazar University, scientists, and media representatives took part in the event held at the Central Scientific Library (CSL) of ANAS.
First, an exhibition of numerous publications in Azerbaijani and foreign languages covering various fields of Science from Hamlet Isakhanli's personal library, as well as books authored by him and presented to the CSL, was reviewed.
Academician Isa Habibbayli, president of ANAS, who opened the event with his opening speech, said that founder of Khazar University, chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Academician Hamlet Isakhanli is an outstanding Azerbaijani intellectual who was formed on the basis of the ideals and opportunities of Azerbaijan's independence years. Congratulating academician Hamlet Isakhanli once again publicly on the occasion of his election as a full (foreign) member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Georgia in 2021 , he emphasized the importance of this event for intellectuals and for the country.
Referring to the pedagogical activity of the scientist, academician Isa Habibbayli brought to the attention that Hamlet Isakhanli has a serious place among the Society of Mathematicians of Azerbaijan with his multifaceted activities. The head of ANAS said that there are very few people who can be a bridge between exact and humanitarian sciences, who can serve both sides. "One of them is Hamlet Isakhanli in our country. The work "Alchemy: Science, Art and Mysticism" authored by him is a fundamental monographic study reflecting the issues of interaction and relationship between nature and humanities in our country at a scientific level. The first, fundamental book about this was written by the late Khudu Mammadov, corresponding member of the Academy, about half a century ago. His book "Double Wing" also united science and art. In addition, Hamlet Isakhanli, as a serious researcher, rendered a great service to systematic studies and the study of medieval Azerbaijani literature, he opened a horizon and justified it," the head of the Academy pointed out.
Academician Isa Habibbayli, characterizing Khazar University as the masterpiece of Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, said that this university is one of the few leading educational institutions that have made our country known in the world, either by its projects or by its education.
Director General of CSL, professor Mammad Aliyev also emphasized in his speech that the valuable publications presented to the library by professor Hamlet Isakhanli and covering various fields of science will be of special importance in the funds, and in the future a personal book collection of the scientist will be created consisting of these publications. The general director also touched upon the scientist's scientific and literary activity.
Director General of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of ANAS, Professor Ilham Mammadzade, executive director of the Institute, Doctor of Historical Sciences Eynulla Madatli, head of the Department of Asian peoples literature of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami of ANAS, Professor Badirkhan Ahmadov, rector of Khazar University, Associate Professor Irada Khalilova shared their views on Hamlet Isakhanli's creativity and wished him success in his future activities. The head of the Department of Languages and Literatures of Khazar University, Associate Professor Dilbar Zeynalova, recited the poem "Side by Side with waves" written by H.Isakhanli.
Speaking at the end, professor H.Isakhanli expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to the organization of the event, including academician Isa Habibbayli, president of ANAS and general director of CSL, Professor Mammad Aliyev, and spoke about the role of the book and library in the development of society. The scientist also answered the questions of the participants of the event.
At the end, gifts were exchanged and memory photos were taken.
