Khazar University Institutional Repository adopted Google Analytics (GA) to track usage statistics within the DSpace. Google Analytics is the most popular free solution for analyzing web usage.

The GA statistics have proven much more reliable than the existing plugins available for DSpace previously with which we experienced lost statistics and inflated pageviews resulting from robots.

For instance, we have been using GA to collect information about sessions, users, site visits from various countries worldwide. We're now getting between 10 000 and 15 000 sessions and users per month, and about 8000 pageviews. The most visited our DSpace countries in the world are as follows: United States (6748 sessions), Turkey (1090), Indonesia (1013), United Kingdom (380). Netherlands (379).

This information has given us much greater understanding of how our repository is being used with the majority of users coming directly from Google.
