The Confucius Institute at Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) organized an open lesson entitled “Let’s Learn about China” within the Chinese language elective course held at Khazar University Sumgait Dunya School on February 8.

The main purpose of conducting Chinese language electives is to increase students' interest in Chinese language and culture, as well as to train talented young people in this area. Nigar Gojaeva, an employee of the Confucius Institute, who teaches Chinese language classes, provided information to the students about China's culture, history, and geography.

Students were given the first Chinese language textbook authored by Rafig Abbasov, Director of the Confucius Institute.

During the event the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak in China was also discussed. The video which demonstrated solidarity of AUL students, majoring in Chinese studies, with Chinese people, entitled as “Wukhan, We are with You”, was shown during the open lesson.

In the end, high school students participated in a video clip entitled “Be Strong, China!” to support Chinese peers.
