On February 27, 2016, the International Affairs Office staff and volunteers carried out an orientation session for international students who joined Khazar University in the Spring semester of the current academic year (2015-2016). The orientation session took place on the Neftchilar Campus.
The main goal of the orientation session was to equip the students with important information that would help them navigate the university environment, Azerbaijan and Baku as well as to give them a chance to meet other international students. Topics covered during the orientation session included but were not limited to: academic and social life at Khazar University, history of Azerbaijan, local culture and traditions, transportations system, annual events in Baku, etc.
Participants included new full-time students from Cameroon, Gambia, Palestine, Yemen, and Zimbabwe, as well as exchange students from Italy, Poland, and Portugal. Current international students also participated in the session and shared their experience with their fellow international students who had arrived in Azerbaijan recently and had just started their academic programs.
