On May 11-12, 2017,instructors of English Language and Literature Department Irina Orujova, Elmira Aliyeva, Zamira Gurbanova (PhD student), Gulnaz Novruzzadeh (PhD student), Milana Abbasova PhD student and  Minor Programs Coordinator of  the Department and Valida Kerimov, PhD student and Dean's assistant of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, participated at the Republican Scientific-Practical Conference held with coordination of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic and Azerbaijan University of Languages. The conference entitled  "Actual problems of teaching foreign languages" was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the establishment of AUL.  Theses of the above mentoned instructors entitled “Обучение стилистическому приему сравнение на уроках художественного перевода (на материале рассказов Э.Хемингуэя)”( Irina Orujova), “Дискурс и коммуникативная компетенция” (Elmira Aliyeva), “Azərbaycan və ingilis dillərində inkarlıq kateqoriyası” (  Gulnaz Novruzzadeh), “Sosial şəbəkələrin tələbələrin ingiliscəsinə təsiri” ( Milana Abbasova), “Analyzing the features of Publicist style. Political metaphor in the media” ( Valida Kerimova) were delivered during the conference.

The conference covered topics such as challenges encountered in learining, teaching foreign languages, the role of  ICT in the study of English language, the concept of meaning in language learning and so on. Afgan Abdullayev, the acting rector of AUL and Fakhraddin Veysalli, professor of the department of Linguistics, made speeches as well.

At the end of the conferenc, the participants were presented certificates and a book covering the delivered speeches.
