On April 26, an event dedicated to Shakespeare was held at Khazar University. Head of
departments , instructors and students of the university took part in the
event. Firangiz Nasirova, Senior Instructor of the Department of English
Language and Literature, opened the
event and gave information about Shakespeare’s
works. She also noted that deep love for people, thought-provoking spiritual
and psychological questions, real life motives were primary focus on Shakespeare`s
works who is known as world’s greatest playwright and humanist poet. Those who
are familiar with his works more or less get inspired and find something new when
they re-read his works.
Shakespeare's works have a special place in Azerbaijani literature and are welcomed by readers. The words of Shakespeare's heroes are used as sayings nowadays. There are a number of people named after Shakespeare's heroes as well.
F. Nasirova ended her speech with these words: "Shakespeare's works are the symbol of life, symbol of beauty. “
Then, 3rd, 4th year and graduate students of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences performed some parts of "Othello," "Romeo and Juliet", "Hamlet" and other works of "Shakespeare.
Ahad Agakishiyev (Hamlet's monologue), Sabina Ibrahimova, Selcan Aliyeva, Sevinc Dadashzadeh, Aysel Hasanova, Nurana Isgandarova, Fidan Huseynova, Ulker Rasulov, Nargiz Rufullazadə and Farida Isayeva performed sonnets and some parts from the works of Shakespeare in English.
The students' performances were highly appreciated by the participants.
