On February 28, 2017, a ceremony to mark this year’s World Civil Defense Day, which falls on March 1 every year, was held at Khazar University. The ceremony was attended by Mayis Talishkhanov, former Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve; Khazar University staff members – Dr. Irada Khalilova, Dr. Elnura Azizova and Parvana Bakhshiyeva.  The ceremony was opened by Mayis Talishkhanov, and a moment of silence was held in honor of Khojali victims. Mayis Talishkhanov spoke about civil defense and emergency situations.

The theme of the World Civil Defense Day varies each year.  This year’s topic is “The Role of Civil Defense in Fight against Disasters”. Students spoke about The International Civil Defense Organization, new technologies and their applications. They also performed artificial respiration and closed chest cardiac massage.

A short video about the preparation and coordination of emergencies and civil protection activities in Azerbaijan was shown.
