On December 29, 2016, a party was held in the Cultural Center of Khazar University to send off Martha Lawry, Assistant to Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, as she completed her time at Khazar and prepared to leave the country. Participants in the event included university administrators, employees and guests. 

Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, made a speech in which he highly evaluated Martha’s service during her 7 years at Khazar. He spoke about her personal characteristics and noted that she is a hard-working, responsible employee. The University Multimedia Center presented a slideshow that they had prepared for Martha. 

Other speeches were made by President Hassan Niknafs; Vice President Isakhan Isakhanli; Dr. Jabir Khalilov, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Alovsat Amirbeyli, Director for Public Relations and Media; Baba Bayramli, Director of the Center for Alumni Relations; Goshgar Maharramov, instructor of the School of Education; and Solmaz Rustamova-Tohidi, Senior Researcher of the Ziya Bunyadov Oriental Studies Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. 

Martha Lawry was given a bouquet, various gifts and a certificate of appreciation. She made a speech thanking the university administration and employees. The event included musical performances.
