On December 25, 2016, Gunel Ismayilova, Assistant in Khazar University’s Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, participated in a Christmas gathering at Church of the Immaculate Conception in Baku. The event began with a special holiday hymn and included scenes from Jesus’s birth as well as homilies by clergy based on the New Testament. It ended with spiritual songs. Other participants in the event included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA Robert Cekuta; English teachers in Baku through the Fulbright program, Robert Borowik and Mary Catherine Boehmer; Michael Monday, instructor for Khazar University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; and other guests.
We note that 2016 is the Year of Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan.
