On December 15, 2016, Dr. Elmira Mammadova-Kekech, instructor of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature within Khazar University School of Education, and students of the same School including Khatira Aghayeva, Ema Niftaliyeva, Nizami Alisoy, Ilaha Gasimzadeh, and Laman Hasanli participated in a routine seminar of the Turkic Studies Journal. The seminar was moderated by Professor Elbrus Azizov of the Turkic Studies Department of Baku State University. It included a discussion and analysis of the book “Başlanğıcdan iyirminci əsrə –türk dil tarixi” (From the Beginning to the 20th Century: History of the Turkish Language) by Professor Ahmad Bican Arcilasun.

Professor Azizov informed the participants about topics such as “The Place of the Turkish Language Among Languages of the World,” “Theory of Altaic Languages,” “Theory of Major Language Families,” “Nostratic Theory,” “Euro-Asiatic Theory,” “Sumerian-Turkic Language Relations” and more.

At the end of the seminar, the scholars answered participants’ and students’ questions.
