On October 14, 2016, the first-ever in the country “Mammad Araz Poetry Day” was held in the Natavan Club of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union upon the initiative of Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, instructor of Khazar University’s Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature. Participants in the event included fans of Mammad Araz’s poetry, including Azerbaijani intellectuals such as poet Musa Yagub, Baku State University Professor Jahangir Mammadli, Afag Mesud, Ilgar Fehmi and others. Guests at the event spoke about Araz’s poetry and shared their memories of him.
