On September 27, 2016, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iraq to the Azerbaijan RepublicDr. Fadhil Awad Jebur AL-Shuwai visited Khazar University to meet with the President, Dr. Hassan Niknafs and the Director of the International Affairs Office, Ms. Turan Jafarova.

The Ambassador spoke about the recent decision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraqabout the recognition of several universities in Azerbaijan. He stressed that Khazar University is known in Iraq as one of the leading universities in Azerbaijan providing high quality education.

Dr. Hassan Niknafs spoke about the programs offered at Khazar University, its resources, laboratories, research capacity and other important academic aspects.  He also provided information about the dormitory of the university that was recently opened and invited the Ambassador to visit it. Ms. Turan Jafarova mentioned that the interest of Iraqi citizens in studying at Khazar had increased significantly.

After the meeting, the Ambassador participated in the concert program at the Marble Hall of Khazar University held within the VIII Uzeyir Hacibeyli International Music Festival organized by the Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Heydar Aliyev Foundation (September 18-27, 2016). The Ambassador commended the musicians and participants of the festival, and he expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the leadership of Khazar University for the invitation.
