As part of the VIII Uzeyir Hacibeyli International Music Festival organized by the Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism and by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on September 18-27, 2016, a literary and musical event was held in the composer’s house museum on September 18th with the participation of representatives from the literary and musical communities.
Composer Sardar Farajov, director of the museum, opened the event and spoke about the significance of this annual festival and about the life of the genius composer. Then a presentation ceremony was held for the book “Sounds from Abroad” by Aslan Kanan, researcher and editorialist. Researchers shared lectures and musical performances were given.
Associate Professor Zulfiyya Sadigova, Head of the Department of Music and Fine Arts at Khazar University, and Nasrin Rzayeva, concertmaster of Khazar University Chamber Orchestra, participated in the concert.
Khazar University is actively participating in this International Music Festival as in other years. Khazar musicians will perform in Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s house museum on September 23rd and in the Chamber and Organ Music Hall on September 26th. Then a masterclass with Slovakian violinist Ferhad Ashumov and Khazar’s Chamber Orchestra will be held at Khazar University on September 27th.
