Prof. Halil Inalcik, the great historian of Ottoman Empire, founding member of Eurasian Academy and professor of Bilkent University died on July 25, 2016 in Ankara. On the same day Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, the founding member of Eurasian Academy, founder of Khazar University and Chairman of Board of Directors and Trustees sent an official letter of condolence to Ankara.
Letter says: “The great Ottoman historian, founding member of Eurasian Academy and the great personality Professor Halil İnalcık passed away. H. Inalchik will remain in our hearts forever with his valuable works. May his soul rest in peace”.
A funeral ceremony was held at the Bilkent University in Ankara on July 27, 2016.
Along with relatives of H. Inalcik Ismayil Kahraman, the speaker of Grand National Assembly, party chairmen of Turkish Parliament, state officials, public representatives, Huseyn Ayhan and Murat Yashar Ekinci, Khazar University representatives in Turkey attended the funeral ceremony. They presented prof. Hamlet Isakhanli’s official letter of condolence to the funeral commission and laid a wreath on the coffin of Halil Inalcik.
Halil Inalcik was buried in the Karacaahmet Cemetery on July 28, 2016.
