Dr. Javid Ojaghi graduated with a master degree in plant breeding field from the Iran Azad University in 2000-2003. In 2006-2009, he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on “Genetics” at the Department of “Genetics and Theory of Evolution”, Baku State University. He is currently working as an associated professor at Biotechnology Department of Genetic Resources Institute of ANAS and his main activations consist of plant genetic resources passportization, study of genetic diversity, screening genes for resistance or tolerance to various stress factors, association mapping of quantitative and qualitative traits and also detection of genetically modified plants. Dr. Ojaghi is teaching “Biometrics 1”, “Biometrics 2”, “Experimental design” and “Molecular biology” for “Genetics” and “Plant breeding” specialty at postgraduate level in Genetic Resources Institute of ANAS and also for bachelor degree in Khazar University. He has published 84 scientific papers (43 articles and 41 conference materials), which 24 of them have published in international journals with impact factors, more than 100 of them have been cited.

Doctor of Science thesis:

Identification of candidate genes for drought tolerance and resistance by sequencing and studying of genetic diversity in barley by GBS analysis (genotyping by sequencing)

Grant project:

Analysis of chloroplast genome, whole transcriptome and De Novo sequencing (whole genome) of Azerbaijan wild and local pomegranate varieties by next generation sequencing
