Ramin Sultan oghlu Rzayev was born in the Dasta village of the Ordubad region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on January 11^th, 1978. After studying in the State Music Institute named after Asef Zeynalli from 1993 to 1997, he completed a degree in tar performance from Baku Music Academy in 2003. He mastered some of the secrets of mugham from artists such as Elkhan Muzaffarov and People’s Artist, Associate Professor Aghasalim Abdullayev. In 1994, he served as concertmaster for the Banovsheh (Violet) Song and Dance Ensemble of Azerbaijan Television and Radio.

He represented Azerbaijani mugham in countries such as Turkey, Russia, Iran, France, Germany, and Israel. He performed and toured with many famous national artists. He has taught mugham courses at Khazar University with People’s Artist Arif Babayev and Honored Artist Mirnazim Asadullayev since the beginning of 2001. In 2010, he performed the Shushtar mugham with singer Simara Imanova at the Second International Festival held with the support of the H. Aliyev Foundation.

He is presently continuing to perform with People’s Artists Sakina Ismayilova and Simara Imanova. Several of his tar performances of fundamental mugham works were recorded and preserved by the Az TV “Golden Fund” archive. He teaches tar at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Fine Arts. He is married with two children, Nazrin and Parviz.
