THE FACULTY AND STAFF OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC AND FINE ARTS CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS

MirNazim Asadullayev

Mirnazim Mushtaba oghlu Asadullayev was born in Baku in 1951. After studying in the State Music Institute named after Asef Zeynalli from 1969 to 1973, he earned a degree in kamancha performance from the Music Conservatory named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov in 1976 to 1981.

He began his performing career as the first-chair kamancha player for the folk musical instruments orchestra of the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. He traveled to numerous countries for the Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Culture in order to represent Azerbaijani folk music in concerts, including the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, the Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, India, Nepal, and South Korea.

He played in the folk instrumental ensemble named after Baba Salahov for over 35 years, during which he accompanied many of Azerbaijan’s most famous singers. He regularly participates in special events and concerts as part of a mugham trio.

Asadullayev’s performances of several mugham numbers have been recorded for the “Golden Fund” archive of Azerbaijan Television and Radio. He has authored articles about other artists and about performance theory.

In addition to performing, he teaches at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Fine Arts as an associate professor of the Department of Instrumental Performance. He has taught mugham courses at Khazar University with People’s Artist Arif Babayev and Ramin Rzayev since the beginning of 2001.

His familiarity with the western, Russian and Azerbaijani schools of composition and his deep knowledge of mugham add weight to the courses he teaches in scoring and mugham. He has authored textbooks in kamancha, mugham, the history of mugham, and mugham performance.

According to an order of President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev on 15 May 2007, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan Republic. He also won the “Ughur-2009” award of the Azerbaijan Republic Cultural Center for his performing activities.
