The research work “Molecular detection of antimicrobial resistance in bacterial (Salmonella spp, Enterococcus and E. coli) strains isolated from chicken meat and eggs in Azerbaijan" won the Fullbright Program of the United States.
The research, covering the years 2018-2020, was conducted in the laboratory of the Department of Life Sciences with the financial support of Khazar University, and 8 antibiotic-resistant bacteria in 3 strains (Salmonella spp, Enterococcus and E. coli) were isolated from chicken and eggs sold in the markets. The research was conducted by the rector of the university, associate professor Irada Khalilova, the head of the department Asaf Omarov, the lecturer Javid Ojaghi and doctoral students Mujan Sarpoush and Havva Adli.
The results on the research were presented at the I and II Unified Health Conferences, the International Scientific-Practical Conference on “Application of Innovations in the Development of Veterinary Science” and the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) meeting 2020 in Chicago, USA and published in the Khazar Journal of Science and Technology. Second part of the research, the study of isolated bacteria through molecular biological methods, will be conducted in the TU laboratory with the financial support of the Fullbright program under the guidance of Ali Asghan, Professor of the University of Texas at Tyler, USA.
