February 25, 2020, Ulvi Ahmadov, a scientist from the University of Düsseldorf, delivered a seminar on “The long non-coding RNA HOTAIRM1 promotes tumor aggressiveness and radiotherapy resistance in glioblastoma”, organized by the Department of Life Sciences at Khazar University. The seminar was attended by Khazar University’s 3rd and 4th year students, majoring in biology and chemistry, as well as Department’s teachers. Brain cancer is considered to be one of the most severe and least resistant to treatment. In addition to demonstrating a modern approach to the treatment of lethal brain tumors, the scientist provided detailed the results of his research works at the University of Heinrich-Heine Düsseldorf, Germany. He analyzed the genetic approaches to the treatment of this type of cancer by explaining the importance of the results obtained after knocking down of the RNA HOTAIRM1 genome, which plays an important role in the cancer cell. The seminar was held with great interest and discussion.
