On February 21, 2020, Aytaj Nasirli and Jalala Hasanova, the experts from the Center for Especially Dangerous Infections Control (CEDIC), held an introductory presentation on coronavirus infection for University’s staff and students, at Khazar University Marble Hall. The presentation was opened by Asaf Omarov, the Head of the Department, who welcomed the guests and participants. After giving an introductory speech about the role of zoonotic diseases in human health and their spread, he gave the floor to CEDIC experts. The experts provided information on coronavirus infection – its epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, laboratory diagnostics, prevention and treatment, and the latest statistical data on the incidents in neighboring countries. CEDIC specialists answered the questions of the participants of the event on this dangerous virus. At the end of the event, Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, Rector of the University, expressing gratitude to the guests, reminded the seminar participants of the general preventive measures taken at the University. The Rector also informed the workshop participants about the importance of personal hygiene when it comes to using public transport, before mealtime, relationships with people with respiratory symptoms, and during illness.
