On January 21, 2020, a Scientific Seminar on “Using classical and next generation sequencing based DNA markers for mapping genes in plants)” was held at Khazar University upon the initiative of the Life Sciences Department. The seminar was delivered by the scholars from the Faculty of Agronomy of Bursa Uludag University in Turkey: Professor Ahmet Ipek and Dr. Sevin Teoman Duran. The seminar was attended by scientists from various scientific centers of Azerbaijan – Khazar University, Azerbaijan Veterinary Research Institute, Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS, Baku State University, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, Vegetable Research Institute, Western Caspian University. Moreover, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of the University, Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, the Rector of the University, Mr. Farid Akhundov, Founder and Head of “Razi Rice” Company operating in Azerbaijan and Mr. Rufat Askerov, Coordinator of this Company for the Southern region, also took part in the seminar. The event was generally interactive and highly appreciated by the participants. At the end of the event, Rector of Khazar University, Associate Professor Irada Khalilova exchanged views on joint project plans between the private sector and the public sector, discussing future prospects with Professor Ahmet Ipek. Then the invited guests were given certificates and gifts.
