On December 26, 2019, Khazar University's Sumgait “Dunya” School hosted “Science Festival” Fair. The purpose of the exhibition was to highlight the students' research in various fields of technical and natural sciences.
The event was attended by the students and teachers of the School, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, Rector of the University, Alovsat Amirbeyli, Director for Public Relations and Media, Elza Samedli, Dean of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, Dr. Bahman Amani, Head of English Language and Literature Department, Nuru Safarov, Head of the Department of Physics.
Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, who opened the exhibition by cutting the red ribbon, spoke about the importance and high level of organization of the exhibition and congratulated the school administration, teachers and students on this occasion.
“Robots Race”, “Chemistry is Our Life”, “Physicists of the World”, “Biology in the Lives of People”, “Our Volcanic World”, “From Our Literary Heritage”, “Travel to History”, “Think Green, Save the Earth”, “World Mechanism” and the other exhibition stands were of great interest for the participants.
The “Shusha Tower” and “Barda Tower” models made by children themselves with the usage of natural stones, soil and grass, and also the exhibition stand of national costumes displayed in the section dedicated to the Karabakh culture, was met with admiration. Translation of Najaf bey Vazirov’s play “As you sow, so shall you reap” into the Russian language by the 5th-grade students of the Russian section, under the guidance of the teachers of the school, excited general admiration.
Interesting compositions of the IB section and the scene dedicated to the 650th anniversary of Imaddin Nasimi were also presented to the participants.
The exhibition stands of Chinese and Korean languages, being taught as additional languages, were also the colorful parts of the exhibition. Students of Chinese language courses made presentations on Chinese language and culture, led by Nigar Gojayeva, a member of the Confucius Institute at ASU. Participants tasted Chinese tea following a traditional Chinese tea brewing ceremony.
The book published in Chinese language by Rafig Abbasov, Director of the Confucius Institute, entitled “Ilham Aliyev - a contemporary successor of friendly relations between the two ancient nations”, which writes about the traditional friendly relations between Azerbaijan and China, the strengthening and development of comprehensive cooperation, was presented to the participants of the event.
It should be noted that compositions, scientific researches, experimental works of students, presented at the exhibition will take part in a number of events and competitions within the country. One of them will participate in the annual “Scientists of Tomorrow” project, an invention and design project called “Environmental Stop”. The two works presented at the exhibition are among the projects that will be part of the design contest entitled “Turkish World Knowledge Olympiad”. One of these works is the “Well Chair” - a wheelchair and the other a small board with special software for convenience shopping in the markets.
In general, the Exhibition demonstrated that substantial work has been carried out in the field of developing students' scientific potential and creative abilities at Khazar University's Sumgait “Dunya” School.
