On December 5-6, 2019 International Conference entitled “Eastern Europe Uptake & Outreach Event/National Focal Point Dialogue Meeting”, was jointly organized by Khazar University and the United Nations International Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) at University’s Fikrat Amirov Conference-Concert Center.
The event was opened by Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, Rector of Khazar University, who welcomed the participants, talked about the importance of the event and wished the Conference success.
Ingunn Storro, IPBES representative, spoke about the advantages, key activities and opportunities for IPBES participants.
Following that Rovshan Abbasov, Head of the Department of Geography and Environment at Khazar University, and Rashad Allahverdiyev, Representative of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, delivered speeches.
The event was attended by national coordinators and experts from 25 countries, including Norway, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria, Belgium, Moldova, Belarus, Slovakia, Russia, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Hungary, North Macedonia, Estonia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Romania, Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
At the event, the University's Chamber Orchestra (Artistic Director - Zulfiyya Sadigova, Head of Music and Fine Arts Department, honored teacher, pianist) performed a concert program.
On December 5, a reception was organized for the Conference participants at Khazar University Conference and Leisure Center in Buzovna.
