On November 4, 2019, an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic service of Azerbaijan was held in Bern, the capital of the Swiss Confederation. The event was attended by officials of Switzerland and the European Union, ambassadors and diplomatic mission representatives of France and other countries in Switzerland, Chairman and members of the Azerbaijan-Switzerland Economic Commission, and the public.
Azerbaijan was represented at the event by Khanym Ibrahimova, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein, and Hikmet Hajiyev, the Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Delivering speech at the event, Ambassador Ibrahimova and Hikmet Hajiyev talked about the complex and honorable path that Azerbaijan's diplomatic service agencies have had, the political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland.
The book that has emerged as a result of research conducted at the Swiss Archives, revealing new facts about the history of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Azerbaijan was presented at the event.
The participants were presented a classical music concert of Azerbaijani masters of art. People's Artist Fidan Hajiyeva performed songs of European and Azerbaijani composers accompanied by
Zulfiyya Sadigova, Head of Music and Fine Arts Department at Khazar University, Honorary Teacher and pianist. Local violinist Alina Kudelevits also made a performance at the concert.
