On June 10-14, 2019, the 2nd International Conference on “Operators, Functions, and Systems of Mathematical Physics” (OFSMP-2019) was held at Khazar University, organized by the Department of Mathematics, being dedicated to the modern issues of mathematical physics. The main purpose of the Conference was to discuss the latest achievements and progress of mathematical physics and its methods.
It should be noted that the 1st OFSMP Conference was held on May 21-24, 2018 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Professor Hamlet Isakhanli and then it was decided to hold it annually.
The Conference was attended by the scientists and specialists from ANAS institutes and local Universities and also over 60 mathematicians from 25 countries of the world, particularly - Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, USA, Mexico, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Slovenia, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Norway, Korea, North Korea, China and Japan.
The opening ceremony of the Conference took place at the Marble Hall of the University. After the opening speech of Dr. Ali Huseynli, the Head of the Mathematics Department at Khazar University, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, and Associate Professor, Irada Khalilova, the Rector of the University, in their opening statements welcomed the participants and wished success to the Conference’s work
After the opening ceremony, the Conference continued its work for five days in three different sections and each section had five reports delivered with 45 minutes duration. Primarily, the following scientific achievements in mathematical physics were discussed: String and Quantum field theory; Classical and quantum integrable models; Representation Theory; Methods of Complex Analysis and differential Geometry in modern Mathematical Physics; Spectral Theory, Scattering Theory, Inverse problems, Orthogonal Polynomials; Analysis of Partial Differential Equations of Mathematical Physics; Soliton theory.
About 70 speeches were heard at the Conference. It is worth mentioning that in terms of the number of foreign participants or the wide geography of the participants, as well as the prominence of scientists participating in the Conference, this Conference had higher rates compared to the 1st OFSMP Conference held a year ago. Taking into account such high indicators, it is no coincidence that the International Association of Mathematical Physics has recognized this conference as B-category Conference and became the official supporter of this Conference.
It should be noted most emphatically, the history of Conferences held in Azerbaijan in the field of mathematics and the information about them give us the reason to say that either or both the first and second OFSMP Conferences are the two most largest Conferences organized in the field of mathematics in the history of Azerbaijan in the last 40-50 years.
Currently, the abstracts of the Conference are being prepared.
