On June 11, 2019, preliminary discussion of the scientific research work entitled “The Concept of Lower and Upper Layers of the Syntactic Structures of Noam Сhomsky” by Valida Kerimova, Vice-Dean School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, PhD student, majoring in “German languages” - 5708.01 at the English Language and Literature Department, was held. Jabir Mammadli, the Coordinator of the Division of Graduate Studies and Research, in his opening statement gave a detailed information about the doctoral student’s research activity and the documents submitted. Following that, the doctoral candidate provided information about her scientific work, particularly about the significance and relevance of the research work, its scientific novelty, goals and objectives, approbation, structure and a brief content. Further on, doctoral candidate answered the questions and commented on the remarks and suggestions mentioned.
Alongside with Khazar University’s staff, thesis discussion session was attended by Fakhraddin Veyselli, (scientific supervisor) Professor at Azerbaijan State University (ASU), including following faculty members from ASU: Professor Arif Huseynov, Head of the Department of Grammar, Irada Samedova, Associate Professor of English Lexicology and Stylistics, Dr. Elmira Aliyeva, Senior Teacher at the Methodology Department; also Dr. Samira Mammadova, Head of Foreign Languages Department of Azerbaijan University, and Tariyel Abbasov, Chief Specialist of AzTV Channel and others.
At the end of the discussion it was agreed that Valida Kerimova's doctoral thesis entitled “The Concept of Lower and Upper Layers of the Syntactic Structures of Noam Сhomsky”, meets the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and it was decided to pass it to the next stage, for the candidate to obtain PhD degree in Philosophy.
