On June 7, 2019, within the framework of the Open Public Art Project, “City Art. Azerbaijan” an Introductory Fair of the Fine Arts and Applied Art Contest entitled “Be the modern color of the Ancient City!” was held in the city of Icherisheher, which is a historical and mysterious corner of Baku. This project, along with Khazar University, is supported by Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), the Young Scientists and Specialists Council under the Presidium of ANAS, the Institute of Architecture and Art, the Archeology and Ethnography Institute and the National History Museum of Azerbaijan, the Gobustan State Historical-Artistic Reserve, Mirza Alakbar Sabir Foundation, “Nur Art House” Gallery and Azerbaijan Archaeological Society Public Union.
In the event preparation and organization, “Nur Art House” and students from the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences of Khazar University took an active part.
Saida Musayeva, the project's creative team leader, opening the Exhibition initially presented young artists and their works. Following that, the event moderator gave the word to Professor Roya Tagiyeva, the Head of the gallery, UNESCO arts expert on Azerbaijan, Doctor of Art Science. Further on, Fikret Abdullayev, Head guardian of the Gobustan National Historical-Artistic Reserve, and Associate Professor Sevda Tahirli, Director of the Mirza Alakbar Sabir Foundation, delivered speeches.
The event became a logical and successful outcome of the Open Public Art Project’s next stage.
