On May 25, 2019, upon the arrangements made by the students of Khazar University Student Council and under the supervision of Associate Professor Gasham Zeynalov, the Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Khazar University, students of Khazar University, majoring in Oil and Gas Engineering and Geography (Teaching), as well as students from the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University and Azerbaijan-French University were acquainted with geological risk and seismic elements outbursts in the Shikzagirli mud volcano, one of the active volcanoes of Azerbaijan and the Pirekishkul mud volcano located in Pirekishkul settlement in Gobustan region. Associate Professor Gasham Zeynalov, on the basis of observed volcanoes, delivered an open lesson on the mechanisms of formation of mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan and their source of erosion, as well as the geological risk and emphasizing the fact that the mud volcanoes were the main source of information about the deeper deposits of oil and gas.
