On December 10, the Sumgayit branch of Dunya School held the first round of a Cultural Festival in the city of Sumgayit. This round included competitions in the categories of dramatic reading, drawing, chess, singing, and dance. A total of 513 school children from 48 of the 50 schools in Sumgayit participated in the Festival, along with over 400 parents and teachers. The panel of judges was made up of professionals, instructors and specialists from Khazar University and Dunya School.
Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, opened the event, spoke about its significance and wished the participants success.
After intense competitions, the panel of judges awarded 147 participants across 5 categories the right to participate in the second round of the Festival, which will be held on January 28.
Participants in the event included Nailakhanim Isayeva, co-founder of Dunya School as well as Advisor to the Khazar University Board of Directors and Trustees; Alovsat Amirbeyli, Director for Public Relations and Media; Ilham Mirzaliyev, Head Methodologist of the Sumgayit Department of Education; and Munavar Bayramli, Director of the Sumgayit branch of Dunya School.
