On November 14-15, 2016, an international conference entitled “Shared Values and New Challenges in Academic and Cultural Movements in Turkish Studies” was held in honor of the 90th anniversary of Turkish Studies Congress.
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Education of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Presidium of the Azerbaijan Republic National Academy of Sciences; the Nasimi Linguistics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences; the Nizami Literature Institute of the National Academy of Sciences; and the Z. Bunyadov Oriental Studies Institute.
Participants included the following students of Khazar University School of Education: Ema Niftaliyeva, Sevda Farajova, Khatira Aghayeva, Ilaha Gasimzade, and Nizami Alisoy. Associate Professor Dr. Elmira Mammadova-Kekeci, a roundtable held by the Turkology Journal as part of the event. The roundtable was chaired by Academician Kamal Abdullayev, Editor-in-Chief of the journal. During the meeting, Turkic Studies scholars such as Ahmad Bican Ercilasun, Osman Fikri Sartqaya, Fikret Turkmen, Ramazan Gorkhmaz, Ramil Valeyev, Ramiz Asgar, Mehman Musaoghlu, Mukhtar Imanov, and Elbrus Azizov answered students’ questions.
The staff of the Turkology Journal highly evaluated students’ participation in the roundtable. They plan to hold similar events in the near future.
