As we previously reported, on November 7-9 Khazar University and Labex TransferS in affiliation to the French National Research Center (CNRS) jointly organized an international conference on “Encounters and Interweavings in the Caucasus: a long-term history of cross-cultural transfers” which was held at Khazar University. Michele Espagne, Director of the French National Center for Scientific Research and one of the conference participants, sent the following letter to Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, after the conference:
Dear Professor Isakhanli,
After returning home I want to express my admiration for the perfect organization of our conference at Khazar University.
We have been hosted with a hospitality I was not used to meet in academic circles.
Your staff and your students have been particularly nice to us.
We have left Baku with the most favourable impression and we will have wonderful memories of our stay in Azerbaijan.
I hope we find an opportunity to publish the proceedings in an English version , and if you agree with the project we think about a second possibly extended French version, like the book which has been edited after a previous conference in Samarkand.
With best wishes
Michel Espagne
